The rating or classification of a safe indicates the degree of protection that safe will provide its contents in the case of attempted burglary or fire. Safes are classified using two different methods: Construction Ratings and Test Performance Ratings. Construction rating mainly depends on burglar protection and the material specifications with which the safe is made.Test performance rating depends on the construction specification that safe is built on and the lab tests that are done on safes independently to attempt break-in to ensure the standards are met.
A-Rated safes are designed as an entry-level security solution, offering a basic level of protection against opportunistic theft and unauthorized access. While not as robust as B or C-rated safes, they provide a significant deterrent and secure storage for less valuable items.
A-Rated safes offer a lower level of protection compared to higher-rated safes
Consider your specific security needs and the value of the items being stored when choosing a safe.
B-Rated safes are constructed to withstand specific burglary tools and the time it takes for an intruder to break into them. The more types of tools a safe can resist, the greater its protective capabilities. These burglar-resistant safes are specifically designed to safeguard your valuables from external threats.
A B-rated safe must have a minimum body thickness of 1/4 inch and a door thickness of at least 1/2 inch.
The UL Certified RSC Level 2 rating is designed for Residential Security Containers, providing a higher degree of protection against attacks using common mechanical and electrical hand tools. This certification indicates that the safe can withstand more rigorous attempts at forced entry.
U.L. Listed Group II combination lock or Type 1 electronic lock.
Door thickness of at least 3/16″ steel.
Body thickness of at least 1 ¼” steel.
The door is tested to resist entry for a total of 10 minutes during attacks involving drilling, punching, chiseling, and tampering by UL technicians.
The UL RSC Level 1 rating signifies a Residential Security Container designed to offer a limited degree of protection against attack by common mechanical and electrical hand tools. It's a basic security level, suitable for deterring opportunistic theft
Door material equivalent to at least 3/16″ open hearth steel.
U.L. Listed Group II combination lock or Type 1 electronic lock.
Body walls of material equivalent to at least 12 gauge open hearth steel.
