FAQ’s

When using the override key, is there any additional security?

The Override key is to be used only in an emergency - constant use will damage the locking mechanism. We do not recommend using it in busy times to avoid waiting period. Only use in case of emergency.

Where can I get a replacement floor securing bolt for this safe?

You can reach out to us and we can provide you with a set depending on availability, but to save time any hardware store will be able to supply you an expansion bolt(s) (sometimes called Rawl bolts) from stock. You just need to ensure the diameter is less than the pre-drilled hole in the safe.

How do I fit the bolts into the floor?

All of our security safes have pre-drilled holes in the base. You need to position the safe where you wish it to be located - mark the position of the holes with a marker through the pore-drilled holes and then move the safe away and using a drill make holes sufficiently deep and with the correct diameter as specified in the installation instructions. Place the safe back carefully aligning the holes and then push the expansion bolts into the holes and tighten up with either a spanner or screwdriver depending on the type of bolt used. Please watch out for any floor system/heating equipment that might be running under that area so you don’t drill into them.

Can a time be set so that the safe can after some specified time?

This lock functionality is called 'time delay lock' and it is available on all of our advanced digital locks. We will email a user manual guide at the time of purchase, that gives information on how to operate, setup a lock, add or delete a user, set or cancel a time delay and other mechanisms.

What are the different types of safes?

Although many safes look similar from the outside, not all safes are created equal. Apart from the obvious differences in size, interior layouts and appearance, some safes are designed to protect contents from theft, while others are designed to protect contents from fire as well some that are specifically designed for pharmaceutical usage. The most popular safes are hybrid models designed to provide protection from both threats.

Can you fasten my safe to the floor?

In most cases we can fasten your safe to the floor to ensure it stays put. Fastening taller safes is also a good idea not just for security reasons but also for safety reasons to eliminate the risk of the safe tipping in either a seismic event or theft attempt. The only situations in which we can't guarantee to fasten a safe is if there is any floor system/heating equipment that might be running under that area or if there is concrete floor in the building or apartment. If you can't have the safe fastened be sure to choose a heavier safe.

If I select a lock with a battery and the battery dies, will I be locked out of my safe?

No. Although the safe will warn you when the battery is getting low, if you ignore this warning and the battery gets so low it won't open the safe anymore you can always access the battery from outside the safe and once the new battery is installed the lock will have remembered your code and let you back in.

How long will the batteries last in my electronic safe lock?

This really depends on how often the safe is opened and the temperature of the environment the safe is kept in. Generally, we find batteries last about 2 years unless the safe is opened quite frequently or the safe is kept in an unheated location like a garage.
